In the Name of Christ, we bid you welcome!
Who
are we? Holy
Cross Anglican Church is a community of faith that believes
and professes the gospel of Jesus Christ in the living tradition
of the traditional Anglican Church. Our spirituality is rooted
in scripture, prayer, evangelism, celebration of the Eucharist
and sharing in the sacramental life of the Church. Our theology
and liturgical language is anchored in the Holy Bible and the
1928 Book of Common Prayer.
How
do we worship? We
utilize the 1928 edition of the Book of Common Prayer. This
edition has prayers and affirmations of faith going back to
the beginning of our Christian existence, as well as the traditional
Anglican liturgy. This beautiful liturgy has been in continuous
use since it was first published over 455 years ago. During
the service the congregation actively participates in the service
through prayer, music, listening to God's word and sharing in
the Eucharist.
Our
Community - Holy
Cross Anglican Church is dedicated to the service of God and
to support of one another in our Christian life together. Service
opportunities exist to work, learn, and play together as a family
in Christ, in addition to our worship services that are offered.
If
Holy Cross Anglican Church sounds like the kind of parish you
might be looking for, we extend an invitation to come and visit
us. Come and see for yourself a small, friendly and growing
congregation embracing the power of faith and building a new
Anglican Church for the glory of God.
The Season of Trinity

News & Updates:
Sunday, July 5, 2009 - Morning Prayer.
Announcing the Second Annual Anglican Lake Day, Sunday afternoon, July 26, 2009. The location will be on the grounds of St. Barnabas behind the Ewings’ on Watts Bar Lake.
Though complete information will follow, we are excited to give you a sneak preview of this year's gathering. First of all we will be offering a weekend retreat for Anglican youth. We hope to have 20 young folks (ten boys / ten girls) age 13 to 18. That will begin Friday evening (July 24th) and last through Sunday Evening (July 26th),
Since St. Barnabas will be in operation during that time, everyone is invited to arrive at 11:00am for morning prayer, have a picnic, swim, boat, fish, or hike and stay for Lake Day, evening meal and Evening Prayer to be lead by our youth. If you are coming after attending your home church, you will have plenty of time for the Lake Day activities, meal and service.

A Special Announcement from our Senior Warden:
It is with sadness that I report to you the death of founding member and vestryman Stewart C. Whittle on Tuesday morning, 30 June 2009. Stewart will be remembered for his gracious and generous manner, and the creation or reproduction of the beautiful tracts and prayers we have in our racks. These include the litany which we use at our first Sunday dinners.
Services will be Monday, 6 July 2009 at the Tennessee Veterans’ Cemetery on Lyons View Pike in Knoxville, at 1130 AM, with the Rev. Thomas B. Rasnick officiating.

If there were any word of God beside the Scripture, we could never be certain of God's Word; and if we be
uncertain of God's Word, the devil might bring in among us a new word, a new
doctrine, a new faith, a new church, a new god, yea himself to be a god. If the
Church and the Christian faith did not stay itself upon the Word of God
certain, as upon a sure and strong foundation, no man could know whether he had
a right faith, and whether he were in the true Church of Christ,
or a synagogue of Satan."

OF CANTERBURY,
THOMAS CRANMER, ON HOLY SCRIPTURE
